Epoxy-polyester powders are general purpose coatings and used most extensively in the powder coating industry due to their versatility aspects. This chemistry of powder coatings find its market segments in a wide range because they can be designed as per the requirements of brilliance, finish, reactivity, for all those applications where resistance a limited amount of exposure to sunlight is experienced such as domestic electrical appliances, metal office furniture, shelves, radiators, shower boxes and all those articles that require an excellent decorative and protective effect.
Epoxy Polyester Powders also known as Hybrid powders. Hybrid is a combination of Epoxy and Polyester resins. The coating forms a hard film on the substrate with good resistance to mechanical damage. It has good resistance to yellowing of the surface film and has very limited orange peel. Wide ranges of gloss finishes are available in this type of chemistry including High quality powder coating powder and paints.
The surface to be coated must be cleaned from oils, grease or flash rust.
The curing schedule is 10-15 minutes @180- 200ºC metal temperature.
Store in a cool and dry place at a temperature lower than 30°C. Higher temperature may damage the chemical and mechanical properties of the powder
This chemistry of powder coating finds its applications where maximum corrosion and chemical resistance is required. These are ideal for indoor applications and away from direct sunlight. The coating is smooth with no orange peel.
It is always recommended to use a top coat with transparent powders on the top of the metallic powders. The top coat prevents oxidation of the metallic pigments of the base coat thus enhancing the life of the coating.
